The size of Panespol decorative panels varies according to the style and finish of the particular panel. A large majority of the panels are approximately 1m2. This may not necessarily be 1000mm x 1000mm but could be 1030mm x 930mm. Some of the concrete panels known as the Beton range can be as large as 2400mm x 900mm. The specific dimensions of each style of panel is listed in the product description on our website.
The panels vary in thickness depending on the style and texture. To achieve the most realistic look possible some styles are more heavily 3D featured, such as the Stone panel range which can be as thick as 42mm. The average panel thickness is 27mm -33mm and most of the brick, slate and wood finishes fall into this size range. The Beton concrete panels are thinner at approximately 15mm – 19mm.
There is no minimum order. We sell from 1 panel up to any number. Most panels are packaged in their own carton. For larger quantities we despatch the panels on pallets for easy site handling.
There are many advantages for using Panespol panels including:
  • 'Real' stone & brick often requires structural reinforcement. Panespol panels are very light weight meaning most walls do not need any strengthening to carry the weight.
  • There are no specialist trades-people or wet-cutting tools required to perform installation.
  • In multi-floor buildings it is much easier to conduct installations as transport is easier and cutting can be done close to the install using standard wood-working tools. This avoids the need for wet-cutting equipment often has limitations on its use in high- rise buildings.
  • Each panel covers a large area so walls can be clad very quickly and easily.
  • Natural building materials like stone and slate are finite resources and with todays evolving landscape and tenancies being refitted regularly, using non-natural rather than earth resources have the benefit of being more sustainable into the future.
Advanced Display Systems are the exclusive Australian distributor of Panespol panels and we sell directly to builders, shopfitters, tradespeople and also consumers who wish to install these panels.
Yes, due to the characteristics of their composition Panespol faux panels have thermal insulating properties. As the panels do vary slightly in thickness the thermal conductivity also is variable. However the panels have been tested and an average panel with a thickness between 27.88mm – 29.42mm has a thermal resistance of 0.4m2 K/W.
The general answer to this question is ‘Yes’. However, there are many factors which determine the acoustic insulating properties of each panel and each panel has not been rated individually. Factors to consider when assessing the acoustic insulation each panel delivers include:
  • The backing and substrate in which the panels are fixed varies
  • The adhesives and installation method that can vary with the style of panel,
  • The variety of different panel profiles and thicknesses,
While these factors make testing every panel type difficult many of the Panespol panels do deliver acoustic insulation.
The Panespol range of faux brick, stone, slate, wood and beton (concrete-look) panels are all European-made by Panespol Systems in their company-owned manufacturing facility in Spain. Panespol’s experience in this field is unmatched and they are considered to be world leaders in this area with many patents and unique processes.
The panels listed on the Advanced Display Systems website are the range in which we hold as stock items in Australia. However, any panels on the Panespol.com website is available made to order with no minimum quantity required. These panels are made to order have a lead time of approx 8-12 weeks depending on shipping. Speak to one of our sales team to enquire about custom or non-stock panels.
Yes, the Panespol wall panels have class 3 Australian fire certification have been independently tested for fire characteristic in an approved Australian laboratory. The certificates are available from our sales team or on the datasheets and certifications page of our website. Additionally, our panels have a certified group number which is necessary for most commercial applications currently.
Yes, the fire rating has been certified according to Australian Standard not overseas standards. Recently fire regulations in Australia have been tightened and our current certification was carried out within Australia by an approved Australian laboratory.
Most Panespol panels have an interlock on each side which allows each panel to key into the next panel creating a seamless look. This interlock is like a jigsaw piece where each piece fits into the next. Some panels ,such as some of the Beton (concrete-look) range, have a square finish all the way around the panel. These panels are designed to have a sheet tile look for their effect and simply butt together or can be used with a small joint between. These panels can used in both landscape and portrait orientation.
Yes, all the Panespol panels can be used both in exterior and interior applications. The Panespol panels have been engineered for use in outdoor climates and are not affected by Australian climatic conditions.
The panels can be simply cut with standard wood working tools such as a circular saw, jigsaw or handsaws. There is no requirement for diamond or stone based tools. See the videos on our installation page on our website to learn about the process.
Each Panespol panel is designed to be installed using the correct adhesive which is available both as standard caulking cartridges or also as sausage for use in sausage guns. The use of mechanical fixings is usually required to hold the panels in place until the adhesive cures. Nails and staples can be used or alternatively screws. The fixings can then be filled and touched up blend with the panel.
We recommend that a polyurethane based flexible adhesive is used, which is commonly available at most trade outlets or larger hardware stores. There are a number of brands that are suitable and you are welcome to speak to our sales team for more information.
With an external application the panels must be adhered with a flexible polyurethane adhesive there is rated to a suitable temperature range. The application of the adhesive is panel specific and a different fixing pattern is required. Speak to our sales team for more specific information and advice.
The Panespol panels are lightweight with most panels weighing approx. 6-8kg per sq metre. This allows Panespol to be fixed to most wall substrates without additional building structural strengthening required.
Generally 'Yes'. The panels can be used in most applications as a direct cladding to a wall. They can be installed onto plaster, cement sheet plywood and other substrates. The panels are not designed to fix directly to studs, battens or top hat section but rather need a backing sheet to be fixed to.
The most common way to form a corner is a simple mitre cut on the panel at the corner point. The remaining waste piece is then mitred and wrapped around the corner for a seamless look. The mitre can be filled and touched up to complete the corner. Alternatively a corner bead can be used using timber or wood, which can be painted, or an aluminium profile may be used and are available in many powdercoat colours.
The Panespol filler which is used to fill gaps and joints between panels is specifically formulated for this application and it has microscopic reinforcing fibres which help to lock the panels together for seamless joints.
The panel is made up of a composite. The backing is a dual component high density polyurethane that contains a patented fire-resistant formulation. The facing of the panels comprise of a mineral base, micronized limestone combined with an acrylic polymer. The finishing is water based and uses inorganic pigments and colours.
The Panespol panels have been assessed to be non-toxic, stable and chemically inert thereby providing the benefit of being safe to use. The Panespol patented fire-resistant, high-density polyurethane is made using a water-based process which is also a superior technology and environmentally-friendly method of production compared to gas-based methods.
Each Panespol panel has a minimum bending radius and this depends on the style of panel and the thickness of the panel. The thinner panels will bend around a smaller curve than the thicker panels. Speak to our sales team to discuss your project and the panel you wish to use and we can provide advice based on this.
Yes, the panels can be re-painted or painted over for a unique finish. The paint used for painting over needs to be water based as solvent-based paints and coatings may damage the panels.
Custom panel colouring is available from the manufacturer and will have a longer lead time as they will be made to order. Speak to our sales team to discuss.
Yes, we provide free samples of panels, which are approximately A4 in size. Contact our sales team to arrange a sample.
Yes. Both commercial and residential customers can purchase Panespol panels directly from Advanced Display Systems.
